Objective and results

The objective of MAT4BAT is to understand ageing and degradation mechanisms in lithium ion batteries for electric vehicles and to realize a battery lifetime of over 4000 cycles at 80% depth of discharge over 10-15 years.

Content and approach

Based on state-of-the-art cell materials, MAT4BAT will propose novel cell concepts using new materials and related processes, while requirements regarding lifetime, safety, economic, ecological, and technical feasibility are met.
