Objectives and Results

The aim of the "Safety First" project is to derive concrete recommendations for the design of safe home storage systems on the basis of best-practice analyses and to make them available to manufacturers, standards setters and test laboratories via relevant industry associations. In addition, a further objective is to formulate requirements for the decentralised control and regulation of such home storage systems so that non-networked home storage systems will in future behave consistently in a network-service-oriented manner and thus contribute to a reduction of the network gradients even if private PV systems are further expanded. The energy efficiency and performance of home storage systems will also be investigated.

Content and Approach

The KIT examines the home storages for different criteria. The functional security as well as the network serviceability and performance of the storage systems are tested using a specially designed test environment.
